The Ramos House Project

On Feb 12, 2009 an electrical cable short cuircuting the roof caused the entire wood structure house to ignite and burn down. Three members of the Ramos family safely escape, however, the youngest boys were burned badly as they did not exit the house. The family has an immediate housing need and the younger boys have medical needs. Sandra attends Colegio Bethel school in Panyebar and is sponsored. Her other siblings do not attend the school.Sandra's mother is now trying to help find lodging for the children.

Proyecto Fe is channeling money to help build a new brick house. We have recieved the total amount needed for construction and building preparations started in early April 2009. See pictures below with updates.

The Proyecto Fe Mission Team was in San Marcos in Feb 09' and was able to see the fires destruction and support the family. The members of the Ramos family are all emotionally, spiritually and physically experiencing needs. The youngest boys are now out of the hospital but are recieving treatment for burns. Sandra's mother was in the hospital when the accident happened and had moments of great despair. The family is staying with friends until their home can be rebuilt.

The family lost everything in the fire. They have no clothing, household goods or bedding, textiles etc. If you would like to provide any items for this family, we will take them down with the June 2009 team. Any money that comes in beyond house construction costs will be used to furnish the home and provide items that were lost in the fire.

Thank you everyone who gave money for this project. The mother of this family is so encouraged and excited as the new house is going up. Thank you for your role in this.

 Construction is progressing.

In the words of the Mrs Ramos, Sandra  said,
"I'm very excited that it is happening soooo fast."

Pamela is in the city buying the doors and water deposit tank and other little things that are now needed.

The house construction is coming along quickly. The roof is now on and on Mon 5/11 the plumbing is going in. On Tue 5/12 the electricity should go in. Four clear laminas were installed to help provide light; 2 in the hallway, one that splits the bedrooms and on that splits the kitchen and store area.

May 16, 2009

The main door and two windows should be ready to be installed.

May 20, 2009

Pamela works with the electrician to wire the house. Interior doors hung. The water is all set and plumbed to shower, sink, toliet and kitchen sink, depositing out above roof. The concrete floor is still curing.

May 21, 2009

Electricity works and there is power at the 'plugs'. Connection from shower to water heater is completed.  Moldings around the doors installed.

One of the younger boys was burned badly in the fire. You can see his arms bandaged here and the scars from the damage.

May 31

Our recent Mission team was able to go to the house and see the progress. They returned with a small team to paint the doors and install shelves and small house hold racks to make it more homey.

There was a dedication of the house and a worship service. Friends from the families church joined the mission team, Ester and Emilio Battz and Pamela Chevalier to hand the keys over to little Sandra.
