Letter from Ester Battz
Beloved brothers and sisters in Christ,
I thank God for the opportunity I have to express a few words to you again which come from the depths of my heart.
The situation in our country and, specifically, in our community of San Pedro La Laguna, has not been easy. The teaching area has suffered a huge decline due to the government’s indecision of returning to regular classes after the Pandemic, which has filled us with uncertainty, alarmingly affecting all students.
Faced with this situation and seeing the great educational and spiritual needs that the absence of attending classrooms was causing in children and youth, we started the school year in person. The students could no longer wait. This caused satisfaction to the parents, happiness to the students, motivation to other educational establishments but also certain problems with the educational authorities. This triggered the organization of community welfare groups who fully supported face-to-face education in San Pedro La Laguna and in this way the entire educational sector in our town was reactivated.
We reached the end of the school year without any negative reports regarding the health of the students, and we are satisfied to have achieved good results.
I am also pleased to share with you that a couple of months ago we held two cultural evenings in front of the municipal building celebrating the Independence of Guatemala. The participation of the students was excellent, and we are pleased that civic and social values were encouraged amongst the community. Many residents congratulated us for this social outreach activity.
I share the above because this and many other achievements are only possible with the support of each one of you. Joining efforts, you in your city and us here in Guatemala, together for the integral growth of children and youth.
May the Lord continue to bless you in all areas of your lives. Thank you very much.
With much love, Esther.
